Barfi/ Katli/ Mithai

Taking its name from the Hindi word ‘barf’, which means snow, Burfi or barfi, is usually snow white in color and comprises mainly of thickened milk and sugar. This delicious sweet may be a festive treat, but you can enjoy it all the year round. It is also a superb gift for special occasions. Apart from the plain white variant, it is available in a wide variety of flavours including Badam Barfi (almond), Kesar Barfi (saffron), Kaju Barfi (cashew) and Chocolate Barfi among others. They come in a variety of shapes, and are available according to your choice and preference. Burfis sometimes come with a thin metallic layer of silver or gold on top of it. This layer, called vark is edible and gives a royal feeling while eating the sweet.
